STATE HOUSE – Maine House Republicans issued the following statement today:
“We applaud the University of Maine System’s decision to abolish the requirement that all students be vaccinated against Covid-19 in order to access Maine’s publically-funded University System. In light of what we now know about Covid-19, we appreciate the UMS decision to change a policy that has prevented countless numbers of students from pursuing a higher education without preventing the spread of Covid, or placing others at risk. Our members have been tireless advocates for the principle that the decision on whether to vaccinate against Covid-19 with an experimental vaccine, with no associated legal liability, is a personal choice. We encourage everyone to conduct a risk/benefit analysis with their doctor and to make use of the increasing availability of scientific information on this topic.”
