Letter from the Kennebunkport and Kennebunk Chairs,

Thank you to all of you who helped with our primary election effort.  We had excellent participation from many people who were responsible for placing and keeping track of signs, door knocking, phone calling, providing refreshments, letter writing, and more.  We have succeeded in building an organization.  To have success in the future we need to continue this building.  Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.  And now look to the future, think of how we might improve, expand our reach and get better.  Each of you is extremely important to our efforts.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Thank you to our Voters.  Thank you for taking the time to complete a ballot for early or absentee voting and thank you to all of you who headed to the polls on a beautiful day in June.  Thank you for all the kind words for Diane and our Select Board candidates as they spent the day greeting voters as they entered the polling area in Kennebunkport.  Though disappointed in the result, Diane is carrying on and this will not be the last you hear from her.  Keep her in your hearts and minds.  She was the best candidate, she worked hard, but in the end, we did not show up for her.  Lesson learned.

Congratulations to Allen Daggett who was re-elected to the Kennebunkport Select Board seat and to our new member on the select board, David Bancroft, who has been sworn in and has already attended his first meeting.  Let’s all support David and Allen in their efforts to represent the will of the residents of Kennebunkport.  We can support our Select Board members by attending and speaking up at meetings, and reaching out to Select Board members when we have concerns.

Thank you also to the volunteers in Kennebunk that helped both J.R. Fallon and Rebecca Lewis in their respective elections. This was the first local election in which we mobilized and got a great ground game going that we can build on in the future! To do this, we will need more volunteers.  We have opportunities for all levels of commitment.  Please raise your hand and help the Kennebunks to win.  Reach out to us by responding to this email.  ALL elections are important.

We need more voters.  If you are receiving this and you did not vote, please reach out to us by responding to this email.  Tell us why you didn’t vote.  Tell us what it would take to get you to the polls, vote early or absentee.  Do you need transportation?  Let us know. Any input is greatly appreciated.  Participation in elections is extremely important.  We in the Kennebunks need you.   And our state and country need you as well.

Finally, it has been wonderful as we have begun to work together as a Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Team.  We are novices at working together but it has been fun and rewarding.  We have met some wonderful people from our respective towns, and we were able to help in some way with each other’s efforts.  There is still a lot to learn.

He that will not is a bigot
He that dare not is a slave
